What is counselling/psychotherapy for?
It is for anyone (aged 18 over and couples) who feels they might benefit from talking to a professional therapist about any problems they may be facing. Early intervention is key to feeling better about ourselves, as often issues can escalate into bigger issues without professional help and support.
Do I need to make an appointment?
Yes, you do need to make an appointment for face-to-face, online or telephone sessions.

Do I need to be referred?
No, you don’t need to be referred. If you have something you would like to work on, you are welcome to get in touch and book a session.

I have offices in Faringdon, Oxfordshire and Swindon, Wiltshire.
What happens when I first contact Therapy Inside Out?
Whether you make the initial contact by telephone, email or via the website, I will aim to respond to you within 24 hours, sooner if possible. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions and if you wish, book your first session.
Who can come to counselling?
Counselling is offered to adults over 18 years of age, couples and families.
At Therapy Inside Out, we do not work with those suffering from severe active addictions and/or those suffering from marked personality disorders. We also do not work with anyone who has had previous convictions of sexual offences and/or are currently the focus of any on going police investigations or criminal justice proceedings. We do not work with any court cases.
If we are unable to help you, we will try and refer you to someone who could. We understand it can be difficult to reach out for help, but you’ve already taken the first step if you are reading this.

How long does a session last?
Sessions last for 50 minutes.
How can I prepare for counselling?
Think about what you would like to achieve from counselling. Please be open and honest about your circumstances and feelings. We understand this may be difficult, but you will not shock us and we will not judge you. The more honest you are, the more you will get out of counselling. The aim is to help and empower you.
What is expected of me?
Therapy works best when it is a regular habit you can rely on, this is usually once a week. Please arrive at your appointment on time. If you are late, I cannot extend your session as I often see clients one after another. Payment is made in advance of sessions.
How does counselling work?
Initially, we will have a confidential initial session in which we discuss your reasons for wanting to start therapy. Once we have explored these, we can work out together if counselling is right for you.

Covid is a real concern. Both my counselling rooms are large enough for us to sit at a safe 2m distance. I will ask you to clean your hands on the way in. I would also ask you to use your own bathroom before you come.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you need to go into self-isolation, even if you have not been the week before as this allows both myself and other clients to make informed decisions.
